For several years, I had struggled with my voice cracking as I talked and/or sang plus constant hoarseness

They dissolve slowly in the mouth and I assume it really is the black licorice and peppermint that actually soothe the throat and make it experience better. For many many years, I have often had a dry, tickly throat when sleeping (specially in the dry winter air in New York).
